Dr. Karl Atkinson is a project and systems engineer in the Science and Earth Observation Future Programmes & Proposals department of Airbus Germany. He will act as the lead and coordinator for the Reference Mission Definition task (WP2). Karl has over 10 years of experience within the space industry and has been responsible for several studies and projects for the European Space Agency (ESA), mainly within the Earth Observation domain. He contributed to investigating promising novel asteroid deflection methods in the first NEOShield EU/FP7 funded project.
