Dr. Stephan Ulamec has more than 25 years of experience in the development and operations of space systems and instruments. After finishing his PhD on “Acoustic and Electrical Methods for the Exploration of Atmospheres and Surfaces, with Application to Saturn’s Moon Titan” at the University of Graz, Austria in 1991, he worked as a Research Fellow at the European Space Agency, ESA/ESTEC, until 1993 and is since then at the German Aerospace Center, DLR, in Cologne. He was awarded Juri Gagarin Medal of the Russian Cosmonautics Federation, the Sir Arthur Clark Award and the Team Award of International Academy of Astronautics, IAA. The asteroid (11818) Ulamec is named after him by the International Astronomical Union (IAU).
