NEO-MAPP Role:
Alain Herique is the leader of the team Planetary Science at the Institut de Planétologie et d’Astrophysique de Grenoble and associate professor at Université de Grenoble Alpes, France. His scientific research concerns planetary subsurfaces and small bodies fathom by radar. This field includes applied electromagnetic (simulation, dielectric properties, surface scattering and wave propagation in subsurface), the radar science (system design and simulation, calibration) and data inversion (signal processing, SAR processing, tomography).
He is involved in many planetary space missions from instrument design to data analysis. He is now PI of the Consert experiment on board Rosetta (previously instrument scientist and Deputy Pi). He is CoI of Reason / Europa Clipper (NASA), and Wisdom /Exomars (ESA). He is also involved in RIME/JUICE (ESA), MARSIS/Mex (ESA) and SHARAD/MRO (NASA). He has participated in many proposals of missions for the Discovery/NASA program and for the Cosmic Vision /ESA program. He was leader of instruments studies for ESA and CNES especially in the frame of the AIDA HERA mission (ESA).
